All Lined up in Chico |
The weekend started on Thursday, with the sun shining although it was a bit nippy. By noon things had warmed up and throughout the day people started coming in. By evening there were a total of 7 rigs in attendance. The other two rigs came in on Friday.
Friday evening we attended a Basque Restaurant. There were 20 in attendance and it was yummy. Everyone commented on how good the food was. I think it was a good choice. After the dinner we all returned to the clubhouse and played cards. We all had a good time and there was a lot cutting up.
Saturday morning it was a little overcast but we were lucky because we had the clubhouse for the whole weekend. Some of us went there and played games and read the paper and some went around Chico seeing the sights. Bidwell mansion was one of the destinations and Scott and Christy went to see the house that she lived in when she was going to school in Chico. Others just relaxed and enjoyed being away from their phones and the rat race of everyday living. It was nice.
The theme of the Saturday night dinner was “Winter Wonderland and the room was decorated with snow flakes on the windows and little snowmen of the tables. These items were thanks to Betty and Jack Isola. They were originally supposed to be the wagon masters but due to Jack having knee surgery, Richard and I stepped in and took over the rains. The dinner that evening was different from most of our dinners. . Everyone brought different snacks to eat and we had a real cross section of goodies. Smoked salmon with cream cheese and caviar, meatballs in sweet and sour sauce, spinach and artichoke dip, little sausages in barbeque sauce, etc. Of course, we can’t do that too often, as the food was rich and lots of it. It was good for a change. Those of you that didn’t get to come missed out.
Sunday morning we awoke to a glorious sunny day and all met in the clubhouse for one last time. Cindy got busy frying bacon and I scrambled the eggs. There were lots of goodies to go along with our warm breakfast and again we were all full and happy. We had a short meeting conducted by our vice president and we discussed the upcoming outings in February to Neal’s Vineyard and in March to Delta Bay. Incidentally, I would
like to thank Judy and Howard Hitt for taking over the March outing.
